Good Stacking Practice
If you want to practice sport stacking then there are a few hints to help you to get comfortably up to speed.
- Have a flat straight surface in front of you.
- Hold the cups always with a light grip from the side, never from the top.
- use always both hands similarly.
- Stacking is possibly done easier while standing with legs slightly apart.
- If holding more cups in one hand, hold the top cup with two fingers and just support the other cups with one finger (most people use the little finger) try to let the cups slide out of your hand one by one.
- The cups should touch each other on the bottom rim. If you leave gaps they can fumble more easily.
- Place the cups in a straight line.
- At the down stack, do not slam the cups, just let them slide down. (The cups will thank you for this practice with a long life)
- Keep the cups clean. If they should stick wash them in warm soapy water.

Rules
The art of "Sport Stacking" has some rules to follow to make it fair to every participant.
- Before beginning have both hands in front of you on the table. Time starts when the first hand is lifted. Time ends when both hands are back on the table in front of you.
- Both hands are on the same stack, except in the transition phase between different stacks on the cycle.
- If some cups fall, fumble, in the up stack phase, all stacks which where stacked after the fumbled stack have to be down stacked, the fumble repaired and then up stacked again.
- If the fumble ocurs in the down stack then just continue and pick the cups up as you go.

Timer
After a bit of practice you may like to stack against the clock, for this you need a timer, you can use any sort of timer for practicing.
To download a timer to use on the computer click here if you can not open this file you will need a Zip program to unpack this file and Acrtbat Reader to read the instruction.
